Royal United Mortgage LLC Recognized By School on Wheels
This month, we are honored to highlight a long-standing partner – Royal United Mortgage LLC. They are one of our most diverse supporters, from their corporate sponsorship of our Education Celebration to their recent holiday book drive for our students.
Of their support, Royal United Mortgage LLC CEO & Chairman, Craig Royal, says, “We choose to support School on Wheels because like you, we decided early on in our evolution that one of the ways we would focus our philanthropic efforts was going to be supporting local underserved families. To that end we dedicate over half of our charitable resources to Schools on Wheels because we understand that a quality education is the ticket out of poverty and can end the cycle of homelessness.”. Thank you Royal United Mortgage LLC for all that you do to support our students!
Royal United Mortgage LLC, LLC, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a privately-held, predominantly employee-owned mortgage bank. In business since March of 2008, the company provides consumers with mortgage and home equity financing. The firm was founded with the purpose of enriching the communities it serves. It does so by providing consumers with a wide product-array, competitive pricing and advisers that guide consumers to the best financial solution for both their short and long-term needs.
School On Wheels: Our story began in 2001 when Sally Bindley became aware of the need for Indianapolis homeless children to receive tutoring and mentoring. That’s when Sally hit the streets —literally— and began tutoring homeless children. School on Wheels was founded and received 501(c)(3) status in 2001. In our first year, 2 part-time staff members and 11 volunteers provided tutoring for 50 homeless children at 2 shelters.
Word quickly spread and the good work of School on Wheels was being requested at other homeless shelters in Indianapolis. Fast-forward to today: School on Wheels now has a staff comprised of several talented and dedicated employees and over 400 active volunteers.
